Bullock named Interim Executive Director of Man Up to Cancer
Dear friends,
The mission of a nonprofit organization can only go as far as the dedication of those who answer the call to serve others. Without passionate individuals willing to sacrifice their time and energy, our impact would be limited to ideas without action.
Fortunately for Man Up to Cancer, we are blessed with literally dozens of exceptional leaders who choose to make life better for other men and their families.
One of them has answered this call every day for more than five years.
Today, I'm proud to appoint my friend and work partner Joe Bullock as Interim Executive Director of Man Up to Cancer, effective March 17. Joe will oversee the leadership team, volunteers, and day-to-day operations of the organization as we carry out the process of hiring a permanent executive director this spring.
This appointment will help me balance my ongoing responsibilities as founder, CEO, and board president with my personal health and cancer treatment. I will continue to oversee the organization's budget and finances, corporate fundraising, board activities, and other core duties as needed.
This is an incredibly exciting time for Man Up to Cancer! For our community, we are making a much needed transition to our own digital platform this spring that will allow our members to interact, join a local chapter, participate in virtual meetups, and register for our annual Gathering of Wolves retreat. This new platform will also allow men impacted by cancer to join our community without needing to be on social media.
As for the executive director search, we received nearly 300 applications from our outreach in January and February. That field has been narrowed down to a small group of semifinal candidates. We hope to hire the best candidate within the next few months, onboard them and have them start fulltime on July 1, at the start of the third quarter.
Joe is a founding board member of Man Up to Cancer, an original leadership team member, and has been chief operations officer since fall of 2023. Please join me in congratulating Joe and thanking him for his selfless service to Man Up to Cancer. He truly has the biggest heart in cancerland.
With love and gratitude,
Trevor Maxwell
