Man Up to Cancer Partners with Guardant Health to Ship 150 Backpacks to Patients
Guardant Health, a global leader in the development of blood tests for cancer patients, teamed up with Man Up to Cancer in September for a unique event at Guardant's executive meeting at Lake Tahoe in California.
MUTC founder Trevor Maxwell and chief operations officer Joe Bullock gave an emotion-filled presentation to the Guardant Health leadership team about their personal journeys and their mission to help other men avoid isolation during cancer.
Following the talk, the team of about 50 Guardant Health leaders packed 150 backpacks that will be shipped to members of Man Up to Cancer as part of the organization's Chemo Care Backpack Program. The purpose of the program is to deliver free backpacks to members of Man Up to Cancer who are going through chemotherapy or other cancer treatments. The backpacks include items such a fleece blanket, water bottle, and beanie hat.
The Guardant Health leaders each wrote personal heartfelt notes to the patients who receive the backpacks.
The event was organized by Julie Hamburg, director of patient advocacy for Guardant Health.
"In all of the hustle and bustle of work, I know everyone valued having a moment to pause, reflect, and to give back," Hamburg said. "Knowing that our backpacks and notes will hopefully generate a bright spot in people’s darkest days is pretty remarkable."
