Man Up To Cancer Appoints Michael Holtz as Chairman of the Board of Directors

Cape Elizabeth, ME – Man Up To Cancer (MUTC), the leading nonprofit dedicated to ending isolation among men impacted by cancer, is proud to announce the appointment of Michael Holtz as chairman of its Board of Directors, effective October 1, 2025.

Holtz brings to MUTC more than two decades of experience, professional expertise and leadership in cancer advocacy and communications. Diagnosed with stage IIIB rectal
cancer on March 27, 2012, just days after his 43rd birthday, Holtz underwent oral chemotherapy combined with radiation, surgery resulting in a permanent ostomy, and
infused chemotherapy. He has been cancer-free for 12 years, and his survivorship journey fuels his commitment to helping others prioritize screening and early detection,
seek proactive care, and fund research into the long-term side effects of cancer treatment.

Holtz has served as fundraising director of MUTC since it became a nonprofit in November 2023. He also volunteers as an advocate for public policy and research for
Fight Colorectal Cancer. Holtz was a long-time nationally recognized leadership volunteer for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) and was employed by the organization at the time of his diagnosis. He has served on several boards, including the Cancer Support Community of East Tennessee.

Professionally, Holtz is a senior communications specialist at ORAU, where he serves as chief storyteller and content creator, and hosts two company podcasts, Further
Together: The ORAU Podcast and The ORISE Featurecast. His experience includes communications and marketing strategy, public health and healthcare communications,
media relations, and grassroots volunteer development and messaging. He is the author of It’s Not Harder Than Cancer: The Mindsets You Need to Survive and Thrive
After Serious Illness
, and is developing My Best Friend’s Podcast, a passion project centered on the importance of emotional connection for men facing cancer. A frequent
speaker, blogger and media guest, Holtz has earned recognition as a trusted advocate for colorectal cancer awareness, survivorship and the mental health needs of men living
with cancer.

“Michael’s courage, honesty and unwavering dedication to helping men connect and support one another through cancer make him the perfect leader for our Board,” said
Matt Kozlovac, executive director of Man Up To Cancer. “He has lived the mission and also brings extraordinary professional skills and a national advocacy profile that will help take our movement to the next level.”

As chairman, Holtz will guide Man Up To Cancer’s strategic vision as it expands peer-to- peer support programs, the Chemocare Backpack Program, and its signature event, the annual Gathering of Wolves – the world’s largest cancer retreat for men.

“Serving as chairman is an incredible honor,” said Holtz. “I have seen first-hand, through my own experience and by talking to other men, how Man Up To Cancer is changing
lives every day by showing men that they don’t have to face cancer alone. I’m proud to help lead this movement into the future.”
