Finding Strength Together: Men’s Gathering at FirstHealth Cancer Center

Man Up to Cancer is excited to partner with FirstHealth Cancer Center in Pinehurst, NC to provide a special space for men impacted by cancer—the Men’s Gathering. This informal support group is open to men at any stage of their cancer journey—whether they’re patients, survivors, caregivers, or friends—offering a place to connect, share, and support one another.

Led by our very own Joe Bullock, Chief Operating Officer of Man Up to Cancer and a stage III colorectal cancer survivor, the Men’s Gathering is a local chapter of our organization. It’s part of our mission to help men avoid the isolation that often comes with cancer. “When faced with cancer, women tend to reach out, and men tend to check out,” Joe says. “We’re here to encourage men to check in instead, and to know they don’t have to face it alone.”

The Men’s Gathering meets every second Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at FirstHealth Cancer Center in Pinehurst.

Men affected by cancer—whether newly diagnosed or long-term survivors—are welcome to drop in and join the conversation.
