Men’s cancer group

To be a member of Man Up to Cancer, all you need to do is join our men’s only private community on Facebook called “Man Up to Cancer - The Howling Place”

When you request to join, you will be asked to share briefly about yourself and whether you are a cancer patient, survivor, or caregiver, and agree to the group rules. Then you can scroll through recent posts and jump in to the conversation. First and foremost, the Howling Place is a social hub. It’s a place for us to hang out and talk about all things cancer and all things beyond cancer: our families, hobbies, travel, music, goals, dreams.

The big-hearted (and occasionally unruly) members of the Howling Place are known as the Wolfpack. The group is our place to howl — to express thoughts and emotions in an environment of trust and respect. We are torching stereotypes and shaking up the world of cancer advocacy. Men can improve their lives by avoiding isolation, supporting one another, and tackling cancer with an open heart and a warrior spirit.

After joining the group you can attend one of our zoom meetings, link up with a local chapter, register to attend our annual retreat, and request a chemo backpack if you’re in treatment.

There are thousands of cancer groups online and in person… Why join us?

Support without expectations

Our group lets you connect and receive guidance from other men who understand what you’re going through, but who don’t want to talk about cancer all the time. You’ll have instant friends who are there if you need support, with zero pressure to open up if you don’t feel like it.

Take a break from the science

There are lots of awesome groups to learn about cancer treatments, clinical trials, research, etc. Groups like that are where you science the sh$t out of your cancer. Our group feels like a backcountry lodge. Sure, you can chat about what’s going in with your cancer — things like scans, surgeries, and side effects — but you can also just kick up your feet, sip your whiskey (or soda), and shoot the breeze with awesome guys from around the world.

outings and meet-ups

Within the first few weeks of the group’s creation, men were already meeting in real life. We love these #wolfpackmeetups. Within our local chapters, guys are getting together for meals, ballgames, barbeques and other meetups. As a man facing cancer, sometimes friendships can be awkward. We get that, and we got you!
